Mangaluru: South India’s favourite family fashion store JAYALAKSHMI was inaugurated here at Bejai, on Thursday, March 12.Dakshina Kannada Khazi Twaka Ahmed Musliyar along with Mangaluru South MLA Vedavyas Kamath inaugurated the brand new showroom of Jayalakshmi.
After inaugurating the showroom MLA Vedavyas Kamath said that, Mangaluru is now growing as a smart city,I am lucky to have JAYALAKSHMI mega store being opened in my constitution. JAYALAKSHMI has also employed over 500 members.This has given me immense pleasure wishing the company to grow in the future.
Mayor Diwakar Pandeshwar, deputy mayor Vedavathi, corporator Poornima, Shakeela Kava, MCC opposition leader Abdul Rauf, former MLA J R Lobo, corporator Sudhir Shetty, Premananda Shetty, BJP district president Sudarshan Moodabidiri, Zilla Panchayath president Meenakshi Shanthigodu, owners of Jayalakshmi, N Narayana Kamath, N Govind Kamath, N Satheesh Kamath and others were present at the moment.
The new mega showroom, which has a total area of around 1 lakh sq.ft, is the biggest of its kind in Karnataka.

The multistoried building has exclusive floors for churidar materials, dress materials, ladies ethnic wear (ground floor), kids’ wear, western wear (1st floor), gents’ wear, blouse materials, lingerie (2nd floor) lehengas & sarees (3rd floor). The 2 floors in the basement reserved for car parking has the capacity to park around 250 vehicles.
There is also a kids’ play area that provides a whole lot of fun to the little champs.

Jayalakshmi was founded in 1947 at Cochin’s cloth bazar road by late Sri R. Narasimha Kamath. The business made a modest beginning with a small shop measuring 200 sq. ft.
In 1997, three sons of late Sri. R Narasimha Kamath – Sri. N Narayana Kamath, Sri. N. Govind Kamath and Sri.
