Moodbidri, Nov 21.2016: Embracing a middle path to resolve issues is the best approach that left and right factions can adopt so as to get the essence of democracy, said literary critic Dr Giraddi Govindaraj.
Delivering the valedictory address of Alva’s Nudisiri 2016 at Vidyagiri in Moodbidri on Sunday Govindaraj said the ideal of radical democracy could be attained through collective efforts of both factions determined to create a world of freedom. He said the extreme leftist and rightist stands pose a threat to democracy when the two factions become aggressive and do not offer any freedom for people to choose from the given ideals. He said they must instead engage in dialogue and negotiations to resolve issues.
‘Not a one-man show’
Dr Govindaraj said Alva’s Nudisiri is not a one-man show. “There are thousands of people actively taking part in it and also involving themselves in organising of the literary-cultural fest,” he said.
He lauded the efforts of Dr Mohan Alva for leading from the front and providing able guidance to ensure the success of the show. He also acknowledged the efforts of Alva’s Education Foundation for training its students in Yakshagana and other folk arts.
Overall president of Alva’s Nudisiri 2016 Dr B N Sumitrabai said that the three-day literary fest had witnessed many meaningful discussions and hoped that the deliberations had inspired people to work towards a better future.
