Dr Mohan Alva is a legend in the field of education in Dakshina Kannada district and is known for his selfless service in the field. He had set new standards in extending education to the deprived sections of the society not only in Dakshina Kannada district, but also in other districts in the State.
Dr Alva also established the Alva’s Education Foundation in 1995 at Moodbidiri and started a per-university college to begin with, which grew into a chain of educational institutions providing quality education at affordable costs to more than 24,000 students. Another of Dr Mohan Alva’s initiatives is to adopt students from the economically weaker sections and provide them free education with accommodation in his institutions.
