Mangaluru, Nov 19.2015: The Department of Ecology and Environment in association with the district administration and Zilla Panchayat organized “Mangaluru Udyoga Mela” at Canara Engineering College premises, Benjanapadav near Mangaluru on November 19, 2015.
Magsaysay Award-winning entrepreneur, Dr H Harish Hande, inaugurated the job fair.
Speaking on the occasion, he called upon the young citizens to make use of opportunities like these instead of making it a habit to criticize the government.
He further said, “We are very poor in marketing in terms of what we have done for the country. We work but do not tell of what we are doing. We are the centre of innovation.” He urged the district administration to hold yearly national and international innovation exhibition so that this district can become an innovation centre in the world.
Dr Harish Hande was felicitated by the district in-charge minister, Ramanath Rai. Addressing the gathering, Ramanath Rai said, “November 19 is a historic day in the history of Mangaluru. I had a dream to hold the Udyoga Mela to provide jobs to our youth because after the completion of education if the youth do not get jobs, they make friendship with people who are jobless and sometimes get involved in anti-social activities.
Mangalore Urban Development Authority chairman, Ibrahim Kodijal, K B Arasappa of Kassia, president of Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Ram Mohan Pai Maroor, chairperson of Karnataka Vocational Training and Skill Development Corporation, Pushpa Lakshamanaswamy, chairperson of Social Welfare Board, Divyaprabha Chiltadka, commissioner of employment and training department, J Manjunath, member secretary of the department of environment, Shantappa, principal of Dr Iftikar Ali College, Ganesh V Bhat, taluk panchayat president, Yashwant Deraje, Bantwal Urban Development Authority chairman, Pius Rodrigues, Ammunje gram panchayat president, Premalata, zilla panchayat chief executive officer, Shreevidya, superintendent of police, Dr Sharanappa, chairman of Alva’s Education Foundation, Dr Mohan Alva, and Vivek Alva participated as chief guests.
Deputy commissioner of Dakshibna Kannada district, A B Ibrahim, welcomed. Additional deputy commissioner, Kumar, proposed vote of thanks. Journalist, Manohar Prasad, presented the programme.
