Mangaluru: April,13,- Livers of brain dead person were sent to Bengaluru by air from here on Monday Night for transplantation to a needy patient at the BGS Hospital in Bengaluru.
The Livers were harvested from a brain dead person, Jeevan Fernandes (25), son of Jerome and Gracy Fernandes, at AJ Hospital.
The levers were taken in an ambulance along with police escort to the airport for transportation to Bengaluru by the Charter flight. It took about 20 minutes for the ambulance to reach the airport where it was quickly put on the flight and allowed as hand luggage.
According to AJ Hospitals ICU Specialist Dr Sudhesh Rao Livers would be transplanted to a single patient at theBGS Hospital Bengaluru.
Coordinator for transplantation of organs thanked the authorities of airport, AJ Hospital and city police for arranging quick transport of livers.
